The Blackbird is the name given to Tatsuya Shima's car in the Wangan Midnight franchise.
Blackbird was inspired by the "Yoshida Specials" 930, a heavily-tuned 930-chassis 911 of Mid Night Racing Team fame. Responsible for an apparently still undefeated record time on the Wangan (although the time itself has not been publicized), and a personal top speed record of 308.02 km/h at the now-defunct Yatabe oval track. It featured an Auto Garage TBK front bumper with big, bumper-mounted projector lights for extra visibility, Auto Garage TBK mirrors and Auto Garage TBK NACA ducts for extra engine cooling, stroked 3.6 litre turbocharged and intercooled engine, extensive weight reduction, a set of 4-point roll cage, Porsche "lollipop" bucket seats with 4-point harness, and a manual boost controller derived from Porsche racecars at the time. Some of the tuning done on the car was by Porsche themselves, in Stuttgart.
The real-life car was owned by the founder and first chairman of the Mid Night Racing Team, who also owned a Porsche specialty dealership and tuner: Mid Night Porsche Works, before its bankruptcy. The car's current whereabouts are unknown, after two fraud cases against its original owner led to his arrest and conviction.
